Tom oversees various Utah County departments, including the Attorney, Public Defender, and Assessor offices. He is involved in coordinating council efforts and serves on numerous boards such as the Utah Lake Authority and the Tourism Tax Authority.


Professional Life

Tom Sakievich served 30 years in the Marine Corps, where he was part of several national and international planning and operational processes. He served overseas, in various U.S. states, and in 2004, he was deployed in Iraq and Kuwait as part of Operation Iraqi Freedom’s war on terrorism. After completing his military service, Tom returned to Utah County.

In addition to his military career, Tom has been an active participant in local politics. He has served in local Republican Party activities as a member of his precinct, as a state and county delegate with the Utah County Republican Party, and as a member of the GOP State Central Committee. In November 2020, he was elected as a Utah County Commissioner.

Tom’s education includes a Bachelor's Degree from Brigham Young University, a Master's Degree (with distinction) from Park University in Parkville, MO, and he attended advanced studies at Marine Corps schools.

Personal Life

After completing his military service, Tom and his wife Marji settled in Spanish Fork, Utah, in 2006. Tom grew up in Maryland, while his wife Marji grew up in Southern California. They met and married while Tom was stationed at Camp Pendleton, CA. Together, they are parents to six children.
