Utah County Administration Building Closed on Friday, February 21

The Utah County Administration building, located at 100 East Center Street, Provo, will be closed on Friday, February 21, 2025, due to an internal electrical incident on Thursday. 

This incident did not affect Provo's Historic Courthouse and Health and Justice buildings. They will be open for regular business hours on Friday.

County workers succeeded in containing and minimizing the incident before an actual fire occurred. However, an electrical surge generated considerable smoke, and the building still needs to be inspected and repaired and air quality restored. 

This week, the administration building was undergoing electrical upgrades. An unexpected surge of electricity occurred during an electrical component upgrade process. No injuries occurred during Thursday’s incident, but the Provo City Fire Department responded and remained on the scene until early afternoon.
