Utah County Launches "250 Sleeping Mats" Community Donation Drive in Honor of America 250

August 10, 2026 Release: 4:00 PM

UTAH COUNTY, Utah — As part of the ongoing America 250 celebration, Utah County is launching the "250 Sleeping Mats" community donation campaign, with a goal of providing 250 new sleeping mats for this year's Utah County Warming Center before it opens on November 1.

The campaign offers residents a simple way to make a meaningful difference for some of the community's most vulnerable neighbors. Community members can purchase a sleeping mat directly from Utah County’s Amazon Wish List, and it will be shipped straight to the facility for use during the upcoming warming center season.  https://bit.ly/4xBC0GP

Last winter, the Utah County Warming Center provided thousands of safe overnight stays for individuals experiencing homelessness, offering shelter from dangerous winter temperatures while connecting guests with critical support services. Sleeping mats are an essential part of creating a safe, comfortable, and dignified environment for those seeking refuge.

"This donation campaign is a meaningful way for residents to help the community warming center and the people it serves," said Utah County Commission Chair Skyler Beltran. "Our warming center program continues to improve each year as we make meaningful progress in reducing the number of community members experiencing homelessness. As we commemorate America's 250th anniversary, this is an opportunity for all of us to demonstrate the spirit of service and compassion that has long defined our nation and our community."

"Ensuring a safe and warm place for our most vulnerable community members is our top priority, and these sleeping mats are a tremendous help," said Heather Hogue, Program Manager for Mountainland Continuum of Care. "Every donation directly supports individuals seeking shelter this winter and demonstrates the compassion that makes Utah County such a caring community."

The "250 Sleeping Mats" campaign reflects the spirit of America 250 by encouraging community members to give back through service. Organizers hope to collect all 250 mats before the warming center opens on November 1, ensuring every guest has a safe and comfortable place to sleep throughout the winter season.

Residents are encouraged to donate early and share the campaign with family, friends, businesses, and community organizations to help reach the goal of 250 sleeping mats before the start of the warming center season.
