Commissioners Statement on Tyler Robinson Arrest

"As Utah County Commissioners and citizens, we are profoundly relieved by the arrest of Tyler Robinson, the suspect in the tragic shooting of Charlie Kirk. This development brings a measure of reassurance to a community shaken by violence.

We are deeply grateful for the tireless and coordinated efforts of local law enforcement agencies, including the leadership of Sheriff Mike Smith and his deputies. We are also thankful for the support of state and federal partners whose resources and expertise played a key role in this investigation.  Their dedication and the around-the-clock work of many professionals resulted in this critical breakthrough.

We stand united in our unwavering conviction that political violence has no place in our society. A vigorous and decisive prosecution is essential—not only to deliver justice, but to send an unequivocal message: such acts will never be tolerated.

This shooting has cast a dark shadow over Utah County, the State of Utah, and our nation. But in the face of this darkness, we remain steadfast in our commitment to justice, unity, and the rule of law."
