BECKY JEAN GOLLY

On May 3, 2018, Becky Jean Golly, 44, was sentenced to the Utah State Prison for 5 years to life for Aggravated Robbery and Aggravated Burglary, both first-degree felonies.

Becky Jean Golly, of Spanish Fork, entered guilty pleas on March 21, 2018, to Aggravated Robbery, Aggravated Burglary, Unlawful Acquisition of a Financial Transaction Card, Possession of a Controlled Substance with Priors, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

A little after 3:00 a.m. on February 7, 2018, in Elk Ridge, Utah, Becky Golly called an assisted living center, claiming to be a neighbor. Golly told the employee on-duty that a resident of the facility was standing outside and needed to be let in. Because residents occasionally wander outside during the night, two staff members responded to the door. One staff member opened the door just a crack and was immediately met with a firearm shoved in her face by Golly, who was dressed in black, including a black hood, black gloves, and black bandanna covering her face. The second staff member heard the first staff member scream and was able to quickly duck into a closet and eventually call police.

Golly forced her way into the assisted living center and produced a can of shaving cream and ordered the staff member, at gunpoint, to spray the surveillance cameras with shaving cream. Golly was also in possession of a taser and activated it during the robbery to force the staff member to comply with her demands. Golly forced the staff member into an area where the medications were kept and ordered the staff member to unlock the drug cabinet. The staff member refused, stating she did not have the keys. Frustrated, Golly grabbed two backpacks and fled the building. The contents of the backpacks included a staff member's wallet with financial transactions cards and IDs. Upon review of the surveillance video, Becky Golly, an ex-employee of the facility, was identified as a possible suspect.

Golly used one of the credit cards to make purchases totaling $3,000 via her Facebook account. Search warrants were obtained, and Golly's residence was searched. During the search, several items of drug paraphernalia were located along with a container of methamphetamine.
