How Long Should I Breastfeed?
You may have heard from friends or relatives about how long someone should breastfeed their baby. But what do the experts say?
The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends that a mother breastfeed her baby, exclusively for the first 6 months. After 6 months, the baby can begin to eat solid food and continue to breastfeed for a year or more. Breastfeeding is perfect for the baby as long as both mom and baby want to continue.
The World Health Organization also recommends exclusive breastfeeding for 6 months as the best way to feed infants. Solid foods can then be started and breastfeeding to continue up to 2 years of age or beyond.
Excercise During Pregnancy
A smart exercise program during pregnancy can help you feel better all around. Even though it can be difficult for some, the health benefits from regular exercise make it an important part of life. It can help you sleep better, improve your mood, and give you more energy. Exercise can also help you feel better by improving backaches, leg cramps, constipation, bloating, and swelling.
Thirty minutes total a day of moderate activities, such as walking, swimming, and yoga, is what is recommended. Find an activity and a friend to make your workout more enjoyable. Drink a lot of water and wear clothes that are comfortable and supportive. Check with your doctor before you start or change to a new workout, especially if you have other health problems.
