Two people have been arrested and booked into the Utah County Jail after drugs were discovered in mail sent by one of them to the other.

*** PRESS RELEASE July 1, 2019 ***

Utah County Jail – On June 24, 2019, while screening incoming inmate mail, an employee found that someone had concealed illegal drugs in greeting cards addressed to a current inmate.  That inmate is Christopher McKay Cartwright, age 32, of Provo.  On June 25, 2019, a letter arrived for this same inmate that was also found to contain the prescription medication Suboxone in the form of sublingual strips.  These drugs were detected by a Jail Property Clerk who was using a VeroVision mail scanner manufactured by ChemImage.  The amount of drugs sent to this inmate through the mail is approximately 90 individual doses.  Investigators identified the person who sent the drugs to Cartwright as Destanee Breanne Redman, age 26, of American Fork.  Cartwright and Redman have both been booked on three second degree felony counts of arranging to, or distributing, a controlled substance in a drug free zone, second degree felonies.  Cartwright and Redman, who are boyfriend and girlfriend, are both on supervised probation with the Utah Department of Adult Probation and Parole (AP&P).  Bail for both Cartwright and Redman has been set at $10,000.00 cash or bond on these most recent charges.  However, AP&P has also placed holds on them.  They are both also being held on no-bail warrants on unrelated matters. In addition, Cartwright also has new charges in other unrelated matters.
