*** PRESS RELEASE July 19, 2020 ***
On July 18, just after 8:00 PM, a man and his son were driving in their side by side on a remote road near a landfill in Fairfield along Allen's Ranch Road. They came across a man, dressed in full motorcycle riding gear, lying face down in the middle of the road. Deputies responded and when they arrived they determined the man was deceased. About a half mile to the south Deputies found a motorcycle that was leaning to the side, but did not appear to have recent damage from a crash.
The victim, Benjamin David Jansen, 50, of Lehi, had no obvious injuries investigators could see at the scene. Jansen's wife reported to Lehi Police that her husband had left that morning to ride his motorcycle in the Lake Mountain/Cedar Valley area. He had planned on returning home by noon. When he did not arrive, and she could not reach him, she contacted Lehi Police. Jansen's body was taken to the Medical Examiner's Office in Taylorsville where an exam will be conducted in an effort to determine what caused his death.
