A 39 year old Orem man was rescued after spending the night in the mountains above Pleasant Grove. He lost his way while riding a motorcycle and waited for help.

On September 1, 2014, just before midnight, Deputies with the Utah County Sheriff's Office were dispatched to a report of a man who went motorcycle riding in the mountains above Pleasant Grove and had not returned. John Parker, age 39, of Orem, went for a ride on the afternoon of 9/1/14. His fiancÚ last spoke to him by phone just after 8:00 PM saying he was in the mountains east of Pleasant Grove. That was the last he was heard from.

After sunrise on 9/2/14 a fixed wing airplane pilot with the Utah County Sheriff's Office flew over the area where Parker last said he was. The pilot found Parker lying on the ground and not moving. With the sound of the airplane Parker got up but appeared to be confused and disoriented. AirMed responded to the area and landed near Parker. They flew him to a command post near Kiwanis Park in Pleasant Grove where he was evaluated by Pleasant Grove paramedics.

Parker described his ride saying that he lost the trail and ended up in a creek in very steep terrain. At that point Parker decided to find an open area and remain there until help arrived. His motorcycle still on the mountain in a U.S. Forest Service Wilderness area. Parker will work with Forest Service Officials to remove his motorcycle from the mountain.
