Pertussis epidemic declared in CA, could be concern in Utah
California is being hit hard with a whooping cough epidemic, according to the state's public health department, with 800 cases reported in the past two weeks alone.

You have heard the headlines, California Experiencing a Whooping Cough Epidemic.

Utah is also potentially vulnerable to such an outbreak. The Utah Department of Health reported last week Utah has seen 400 cases to date this year (1,331 were reported in Utah in 2013).

But a simple task can be done to protect yourself and your family -- have them vaccinated. Tdap (for adults) and Dtap protect against this disease that can cause illness anyone, and severe illness young children.
