PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION
The Marriage License Application has been upgraded to provide a better experience for international applicants. It is no longer necessary to use a US based address when completing an application. ALL APPLICANTS should provide their current mailing address and provide their correct State/Province and Country of birth.
Before Starting Your Application

Please review the following:

  • Regardless of the device used, this application works best on a Google Chrome browser. However, Mac and iPhone users have also reported difficulty using the application even with Google Chrome.
  • Applicants do not have to be in the same physical location to complete their application, but they do have to apply in sequence. This means that Applicant 1 must complete their part of the application before Applicant 2 can start entering their information.
  • Both applicants will need to use a separate and unique email address for each applicant to apply. The system will send a confirmation email to each applicant with the application link. If you do not see the email, check your spam or junk folder first. You can also do a search in your email folders for any mail from marriage@utahcounty.gov.
  • Using the application link, applicants can switch between mobile devices, tablets, or computers to complete their application. The system will automatically save an applicant's progress.
  • When taking pictures of your ID's, be sure to turn off the flash or any special features like motion or 3D. These will cause the picture to fail the ID Verification due to glare or blurriness. Camera flashes also will highlight ID security features making a good facial recognition by the system unlikely.
  • Be ready to pay your fee using a credit card or debit card.
  • Be ready with an unexpired, government issued, photo ID for each applicant.
Temporary (paper) ID's will not work.

Fixing Errors on Your Application

For Errors with Applicant Name
  • Occasional issues with the readability of various photo ID's may cause an applicant's name on the application to have symbols or incorrect letters display in the name field.
  • The system WILL NOT allow an applicant to edit any field auto populated from their ID. This is a security feature of the identity verification system.
  • If an applicant's name contains errors, complete the license application and pay the fee. After the system sends a confirmation email with the license number, either applicant needs to send an email to marriage@utahcounty.gov and detail what information needs to be corrected.
  • There is no cost to correct an error with an applicants name due to this system issue.
