Bodies Of Girls Missing On Utah Lake More Than Eight Days Recovered

The bodies of two girls, believed to be Priscilla Bienkowski and Sophia Hernandez, have been recovered from Utah Lake. They were missing more than eight days.


Yesterday at about 1:40 PM Central Utah Dispatch received a 911 call from a man who said he was fishing at Lincoln Beach Marina when he found the body of a woman near the south Jetty, east of the boat ramp.  This was about six miles southeast of where the girls got on the tubes in the water. Utah County Sheriff’s Office Detectives responded and learned it was the body of a young woman.  At about 4:40 PM a pilot with the Utah County Sheriff’s Office, while searching the area of Goshen Bay, located another body in the water. This was about eight miles south of where the girls got on the tubes in the water.  A Utah State Parks and Recreation boat responded to that area and recovered the body of a young woman.  This location was about   These bodies are believed to be those of Priscilla Bienkowski and Sophia Hernandez. They have been missing on Utah Lake since May 6 after they began using“duck tubes” near The Knolls on the west shore of Utah Lake.  Their bodies will be taken to the Office of the Medical Examiner.

Sheriff Mike Smith and all who were involved in the search for Priscilla and Sophia wish to express their sincerest condolences and deepest sympathies to their families. The grief these families must feel at the loss of two beautiful young women must be almost unbearable and we wish to share, if only in a small way,that sense of grief and loss.
