CONRAD TRUMAN

On December 15, 2014, Conrad Truman will be sentenced to an indeterminate term of 15 years to life in the Utah State Prison.

On September 30, 2012 at 10:59 p.m., 30 year old Conrad Truman called 911 to report that his wife, Heidy Truman, age 25, was lying in a pool of blood from a gunshot wound to her head in their Orem home. Exactly two years to the day, the three and a half week long jury trial began in order to determine whether Conrad Truman was guilty of 1st degree murder. Following the 911 call, EMS and law enforcement arrived on the scene to find Heidy Truman naked, lying in the prone position at the top of the stairs with a gunshot wound to the right side of her head, struggling for breath. Conrad Truman, who had been drinking, was belligerent and threatened to kill the Orem police officers and EMS workers who attempted to help his wife. Heidy was transported to Utah Valley Regional Medical Center where she was pronounced dead early in the morning of October 1, 2012. Throughout the ensuing investigation, Conrad Truman’s story of what happened that night was a consistent fabrication of inconsistencies. Prior to the gunshot, Conrad insisted that Heidy took a 20 minute shower. Mr. Truman’s cell phone call log shows that he called Heidy’s cell phone 12 minutes before he called 911. When questioned, Conrad did not have an explanation as to why he would have called his wife while she was in the shower. As for motive, Heidy was worth $878,767.00 in life insurance policies. The medical examiner, who testified during the jury trial, ruled that Heidy’s death was a homicide, not an accident. The Utah State Crime Lab ballistics tests would later reveal that Conrad's gun fired the fatal shot.
