MARTIN MACNEILL

On August 24, 2012, the State of Utah filed Murder and Obstruction of Justice charges against Martin for killing his wife, Michele, and thereafter obstructing the investigation into her death.

Michele was murdered on April 11, 2007. The case took years to investigate due to the complexity of the evidence and a number of questions that were left unanswered until a team of investigators, prosecutors and experts got involved. The charges against MacNeill were bound-over for trial on October 10, 2012, after which, numerous hard-fought pre-trial motions were litigated in court for months leading up to trial. At trial, the prosecution presented dozens of witnesses over a four week period. In the early morning hours of Saturday, November 9, 2013, a jury returned guilty verdicts on all charges after nearly 11 hours of deliberation. It was a challenging case, and the Utah County Attorney's Office thanks all of those that worked so hard to get justice for Michele and her family. A sentencing date for Martin MacNeill is pending.
